BazaarStore owners at Tehran’s Grand Bazaar and other cities’ shop owners in Iran closed their shops Sunday, 30 July, in protest to the dramatic rise in the rate of US dollar that have affected the market.

This new strike follows recent dramatic rise in the rate of US dollar against Iranian rials, reaching 115,000 rials to the U.S. dollar. On Sunday night, a number of bazaar merchants issued statements and called other shop owners to join them on their new strike. News in this regard has been spread quickly on social media.

There was strike and protests broke out at Tehran’s mobile phone market, one day before this new waive of Bazaar strike in Tehran, Shahr-e Rey, Tabriz, Qeshm, Karaj and others.

Bazaar and other cities shop owners are protesting against recession and fluctuations in the rates of exchange for foreign currencies.
